When you have a small or recessed chin, it can have a major impact on your facial appearance and balance as well as your self-confidence. In addition to affecting the proportions of your lower face, an undersized chin can make your profile appear unbalanced. Fortunately, you don’t have to live with the way your chin currently looks. If you’re interested in improving the appearance of your chin and adding definition to your neckline and jawline, a chin implant may be the right choice.

What Are Chin Implants?
Chin implant surgery, also known as chin augmentation, is a cosmetic surgical procedure used to enhance the chin and add contour to the lower face and jawline. Chin implants are often performed to improve the balance and overall harmony of the face.
Benefits of Chin Implants
If you aren’t satisfied with the appearance of your chin, a chin implant could offer the following benefits:
- Enhanced, natural-looking chin
- Improved definition around the chin, jawline, and lower face
- More proportionate facial features
- More balanced profile appearance
- Increased self-confidence
- Long-lasting results
What Should I Expect During the Surgery?
Before you undergo chin augmentation surgery, the first step will be to schedule a consultation with Dr. Weber. During this meeting, Dr. Weber will help you decide if a chin implant is truly the best option for you. If you choose to move forward, he will consider your goals for the procedure and put together a personalized treatment plan. You and Dr. Weber will choose the right size and style of implant to achieve your goals. There are dozens of size and style combinations available to meet every individual’s specific desires.
Chin augmentation is generally performed as an outpatient procedure. To begin the surgery, you will be administered either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with oral sedation. Next, Dr. Weber will make a small incision in the natural crease beneath the chin. He will then carefully place your chin implant along the chin bone and adjust it into the proper position. Finally, he will close the incision with stitches and bandage your chin to complete the procedure.
Usually, the surgery only takes about 30 minutes to an hour. Dr. Weber and his team may want to monitor you for an hour or two after the procedure, but you’ll be able to return home on the same day.

You should also avoid strenuous physical exercise for at least one to two weeks.
