Before your microneedling treatment, it is important to have a consultation. This ensures that the treatment is well-suited to your skin and will help tackle any areas you are concerned about. Here are some of the most common questions asked during consultation for microneedling.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is one of the most popular treatments available for rejuvenating and refreshing skin. During this minimally invasive treatment, a device is used to create micro-injuries in the skin. This kickstarts the skin’s repair process leading to an increase in collagen and elastin formation. After the healing process, you’ll be left with a more even skin tone, soften wrinkles, smaller pores, and more.
What can microneedling do for my skin?
Microneedling can help treat a variety of skin conditions. This includes softening wrinkles, reducing scars and stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, and smoothing skin texture. Microneedling helps you produce more collagen, which leads to a more youthful appearance.
Who will perform my treatment?
The treatment is offered at our Colorado office by our licensed Physician Assistant, Heather McBryde. She performs all of the skin rejuvenation procedures at Weber Facial Plastic Surgery.
What is the provider’s training?
Heather was trained by Dr. Stephen Webber, as well as the manufacturer of the microneedling device. She performs a number of procedures at Webber Facial Plastic Surgery, including injectable fillers, laser treatments, and more.
How long will my downtime be?
You can return home after your treatment and should be able to resume most regular activities the following day. There may be some redness, flakiness, or swelling in the areas, as well as some minor discomfort. These side effects can be eased with ice and should not last for more than a few days. You will be given full recovery instructions after your treatment, so be sure to follow them closely.
How long will it take to see my final results?
You can see full results a few weeks after the initial treatment. In order to maximize treatment results, more than one treatment may be recommended. During your consultation and after a skin examination, you will receive a number of recommended treatments.
Can anything else be done to optimize my results?
Yes! Some of the easiest things you can do to help optimize your results are applying sunscreen daily and following a good skincare routine. It’s important to use skincare products with the right ingredients. Dr. Weber also offers his own medical-grade skincare line. Microneedling can also be combined with PRP to help increase results.
Are there any risks?
With any procedure, there is also some amount of risk. During your consultation, any risks will be discussed. One of the most important factors to mitigating any risk is keeping your skin clean after treatment and following all post-treatment instructions.
Will I have any pain?
A topical anesthetic is applied before the treatment. This will help you stay comfortable during the microneedlng process. After, there may be some slight discomfort, which can be eased with ice.
How often can the treatment be repeated?
Treatments can be repeated after four weeks. Some patients wish to have 3-5 treatments spread out every four weeks to achieve maximum results. During your consultation, a treatment plan will be formed and tailored to your needs.
