Anti-aging injectables can produce results that were once only possible with surgery. BOTOX was once the only option, but times have changed. Exploring the differences between BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau can help you get an idea about why one formula would be chosen over another.
BOTOX – Trusted for decades for facial rejuvenation
BOTOX was one of the first FDA approved neuromodulator and has been injected successfully millions of times across the globe. The formula works by temporarily paralyzing specific muscles. The wrinkles and creases smooth allowing you to enjoy up to six months of smoother, more youthful skin. BOTOX can smooth frown lines, crow’s feet, and for some off-label cosmetic uses including a subtle “nose lift,” to soften jawline and chin, lift lips for more volume, or smooth vertical neck bands.
What is different about Dysport?
Dysport works similarly to BOTOX by limiting muscle movements. What’s unique about Dysport is the molecule size. Dysport was developed with smaller molecules, allowing it to diffuse more easily than BOTOX, and produce the smoothing effect slightly faster. The results look very natural due to the thinner formula, which has proven to be beneficial for treating forehead lines and creases. Dysport lasts four to six months before retreatment is needed. If you need to smooth facial lines in time for an upcoming event and don’t have time to wait for BOTOX to work, consider Dysport as an option.
What makes Xeomin unique?
Xeomin is another neurotoxin that blocks the contraction of muscles at the injection site. A completely version of the neuromodulator, with no additives, this product could reduce chances of developing a tolerance to the formula. Some other treatments may require more units over time to see the same result, but that is not likely with Xeomin. Xeomin also lasts up to six months.
How is Jeuveau different?
Jeuveau is one of the newest injectable treatments available today. The formula is very similar to that of BOTOX in how it performs, and is typically used around the eyes, with results that last four to six months. Jeuveau was developed strictly for cosmetic use, whereas BOTOX is used to treat a wide range of conditions. Dr. Weber can help you decide which neuromodulator should be used on various facial areas.
