Are you tired of the appearance of a long, thin, aged upper lip? Do lip fillers “never work” for you or create the appearance of a duck lip? Are you looking for a permanent solution to a long, thin upper lip?
If this is the case, you might be a candidate for lip lift surgery. This is a tried-and-true procedure that has been practiced for decades. Excess upper lip skin is removed with a carefully hidden incision beneath the nose. This creates numerous aesthetic changes that are associated with youth and beauty.
What changes can I expect from lip lift surgery?
- A shorter bridge of skin between the nose and the red portion of the lip which is associated with a youthful appearance.
- Rolling out or eversion of the red part of the lip which creates a more defined and plumper upper lip.
- An increase in “dental show” and the appearance of the central 2-4 teeth when the lips are slightly parted.
- Due to the direction of tissue movement, the lip lift will often enhance the shape of Cupid’s bow and highlights of the philtral columns.
Where will my lip lift procedure be performed?
Dr. Weber performs most lip lift procedures in the office under local anesthesia. Using special local anesthetic techniques involving very dilute lidocaine he is able to numb the surgical area with minimal discomfort. In this way, lip lift surgery can be performed without sedation. Dr. Weber can also provide oral medication to relax you if you would prefer light sedation during your procedure.
Is the lip lift procedure safe?
Lip lift surgery is a safe, in office-procedure that can be performed alone or along with other facial procedures. The procedure itself can be performed under local anesthesia or a small amount of oral medication can be provided to patients that are nervous about the procedure. There is no need for general anesthesia or to have procedures performed at a hospital.
Will the results look natural?
Yes, the results can be tailored from subtle improvement to a dramatic change depending upon your preference. Dr. Weber will also take into account any asymmetry in your lips to create a more balanced and symmetric lip line and lip shape. Most of our Denver area patients are looking for subtlety but they also want to feel that surgery has made a significant improvement in the appearance of their upper lip.
What is the downtime?
Most patients will take 5 days off work. During that timeframe, there will be subtle swelling of the upper lip. The incision beneath the nose is repaired with very delicate sutures so those can be slightly visible until their removal at 5 days. A small amount of pink coloration of that incision is common for the first few weeks following surgery but this can be camouflaged with makeup. Most patients feel confident returning to work and social activities within 5-7 days. The results of the surgery are immediate.
Has Dr. Weber performed a lot of lip lift procedures?
Yes, Dr. Weber has been performing lip lift surgery for over 10 years. Not only has he performed many lip lift procedures but he has also educated his plastic surgery colleagues about his technique throughout the US and abroad including Grand Cayman, Mexico, and Switzerland, Mexico.
